Kerri Saum, Pilates instructor

Kerri Saum is a certified Pilates Instructor who has dedicated herself to its principles for over ten years. Her teaching style is approachable and lighthearted, although she takes alignment seriously! She discovered Pilates in 1992 while recovering from a serious car accident. Although she required the use of a cane to walk, she found a Pilates video that she could do without pain. With the help of regular Pilates sessions and many months of physical therapy, she was able to fully recover and knew then that Pilates would be with her for the rest of her life. She felt the best way to 'pay it forward' was to teach, believing Pilates is capable of enhancing the lives of all who incorporate it into their daily living.

In 2002, Kerri began her formal training with the highly respected Leslie Clayton at the Body Awareness Studio in Atlanta, Georgia. After the birth of her second child, the family moved to Asheville where she has been teaching at the Grove Park Inn for the past three years. She also teaches classes in a corporate setting and loves the positive feedback she gets from her once sedentary students. She joined Rose Pilates in the Fall of 2009 and enjoys the challenge of teaching group equipment classes.

Kerri lives in North Asheville near the Lake and is happily married to Kevin Saum. She has a ten year old daughter named Zoe and a seven year-old daughter named True. When True was asked what she’d like the website to say about her she said, “Tell them I like grapes and that I’m a princess.” When Zoe was asked the same question, she turned down her I-pod, gave me ‘the look’, and said nothing..
